Ranu’s Uttapam


How to

Mix rice flour, semolina, salt, sugar, milk and water to form a uniform batter. Leave it to rest for a day. Roast the whole cumin seeds and course grind it. Once the batter is well-rested, add chopped onions, tomatoes and chili, along side coarsely ground cumin seeds. Mix well and then heat up the pan, brush it with oil and then pour the batter to make pancake shaped uttapam. Serve with any savoury chutney.


2 parts of rice flour

1 part of semolina

0,5 part of sugar

1 part of milk

2 parts of water

Generous amount of salt


Whole cumin seeds


Finely chopped onion and tomato
